Tasco OS54-1 Offshore 7x50 Binoculars
These binoculars are designed to do one thing and one thing only. They are designed to excel at being the only binoculars you could ever want for maritime activities. They provide the user with a wide variety of tools that can be pretty accurate. They are extremely sturdy and 100% waterproof. They will survive being completely submerged underwater, but they should NOT be used to dive with. They are not rated for underwater diving, and the pressure will likely cause problems. They have an illuminated range-finding reticule that was pretty accurate at our tests, but it should not be your only method of judging distance. They also have a compass that is illuminated red so it is easy to use in the dark, without absolutely destroying your night vision.
The magnification on these binoculars seemed to have suffered at the cost of all the extra features. They only provide 7 times magnification and only feature BaK-4 Prisms. While these can still provide a pretty clear crisp image, they are nothing compared to the BaK-7 Prisms. They do feature a coated objective lens for glare reduction and increased contrast.
Overall, these binoculars feature a lot of little tiny gadgets that can make your life a little easier on the sea. It is up-to you to decide if you want one device that can do a bunch of things well, or a couple of devices that can do things exceedingly great. This is more of a toy for adults, but for amateur maritime enthusiasts this can be just what they have been looking for.
